The Director of Parish Life is responsible for the administrative side of running a parish so that the pastor can focus more time on his priestly ministry. In addition to developing, recommending and implementing systems and policies that support the parish mission and help ministry leaders and staff members thrive in their roles, the Director of Parish Life supports the pastor by prioritizing and responding to critical issues and raising those that need his attention with the necessary information for him to make effective decisions. This position is 30 to 35 hours a week and you will need to work at the parish office in Salem.
Responsibilities
- Keeps the pastor informed of all pertinent issues and decisions made within the parish.
- Recruits, trains and directs management or management through subordinates of parish staff.
- Develops and conducts leadership training programs to ensure parish ministries are led by people who understand the mission of the parish and who live a Christ-centered life.
- Supports and coordinates parish ministries through staff or ministry leaders.
- Ensures good communication between lay staff and volunteers.
- Represents the parish with other parishes, the community, neighbors, and other organizations.
- Facilitates sacramental and faith formation programs, with special emphasis on the youth of MQOA.
- Other duties as assigned by the pastor from time to time.

Qualifications
- Education: College degree in management or church ministry.
- Experience: Five years’ experience in similar position including management responsibility or ministry leadership.
- A practicing Catholic who will be active in MQOA’s parish life.
- Ability to develop a culture of respect and acknowledgement of Catholic doctrine.
- Good organizational skills, facilitation skills, and ability to manage.
- Ability to prioritize, be flexible, present oneself professionally, and to maintain confidentially.
- Spanish Speaking fluency
