Position: Onsite Temporary Camp Staff
Location: Carnation, WA
Duration: June 20, 2025, to August 22, 2025
General Introduction
Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
To lead and inspire campers to grow in the Catholic faith and ensure camper health and safety.
Essential Position Duties
- Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, songs, games, small group faith sharing, free time, and friendship building.
- Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
- Ensure that the cabin and site are kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
- Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports.
- Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
- Help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.
- Helping campers to understand and connect more closely to the Catholic faith through seeking opportunities both planned and unplanned to encourage the faith of campers.
- Monitor camper’s basic needs to ensure proper hygiene, health, emotional, physical and spiritual safety.
- When not directly responsible for programming at their assigned program area helps out with lodge duties as assigned.
- Regularly clean and maintain all areas of the camp to uphold hygiene standards and create a pleasant environment for campers and staff.
- Assist with camper check-in and ride the bus to pickup locations early in the morning or in the evenings to ensure safe transportation for campers.
Essential Qualifications
- Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church.
- A good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, as well as in moral, ethical and spiritual behavior.
- Education:
- HS Diploma or significant qualifying experience.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with children.
- Other Elements:
- Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
- Strong communication skills, verbal.
- Ability to pass provided CPR/First aid training course.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and live on site in rustic facilities while programs are in session.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
