Description:
Ensures that the Catholic understanding of marriage and family life is taught, encouraged and supported throughout parish life. Special focus is given to those preparing for sacramental marriage in the church, marriage enrichment and baptism of children.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer initial meeting with engaged couples to prepare them for our marriage preparation process
- Coordinate mentor trainings with the Diocese
- Encourage and help form Life Groups for couples and families focusing on families with children ages 5 and under.
- Oversee the formation and procedures for marriage and baptism
Maintain an annual budget
- Coordinate with Diocese mandated marriage preparation programs such as life groups for newly weds using Holiness Together and NFP
Preparation for young family life utilizing Pathways Claim Box which started Summer 2024 and feeds into Family of Faith Juniors
Qualifications and Skills:
- Spiritual maturity as shown by understanding and striving to live as a disciple of Christ.
- Excellent people skills especially in regards to recruiting, motivating and training volunteers
- Must have discretion and confidentiality regarding what is shared in meetings with engaged couples
- Has authority to recruit, train and manage volunteers of ministries that report to Coordinator
- Must be able to prioritize and plan multiple projects at a time
- Strong collaboration skills to work with pastor, staff, volunteers, parishioners, and young people
- 3 years of experience within a parish setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to uphold the Catholic Church's teaching on marriage and family life
- Knowledge of Church's teaching with regards to Marriage and Family Life
- Knowledge of various methods of Natural Family Planning
Hours and Compensation:
- Full time, year round, 30 hours - ability to work nights and weekends as required
- Compensation to be commensurate with experience
