The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas includes 91 Parishes, and 19 schools. It stretches from Quanah, Texas just northwest of Wichita Falls in the West and extends to Penelope, Texas in the Southeast. Its largest metropolitan areas are Fort Worth, Arlington, Denton, and Wichita Falls. The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas.
General Position Summary: Responsible for continuous religious education of students 5 th -12 th grade. Collaborates with and oversees the preparation of parents and students for formation and sacraments.
Principal Accountabilities
- Is responsible for adherence to the vision of the Diocese (stated above) and the mission of the Parish.
- Will assist the youth in forming intergenerational relationships within the liturgical and ministerial life of the parish so that youth become active collaborators in the life, community and mission of the parish.
- Collaborates with Pastor and Director of Faith Formation in growing the ministry.
- Recruits catechists and aides.
- Oversees catechist participation in Diocesan certification program and provides weekly support for catechists including periodic observation and feedback.
- Works with the facilities in scheduling of building for teacher formation and classes.
- Oversees registration of students, class placement and record keeping.
- Works with Business Manager and Bookkeeper to prepare budget preparation and maintenance.
- Attends Diocesan meetings and enrichment gatherings. Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
- Works with all Formation and Sacramental Coordinators in planning and execution of sacramental preparation retreats and services, primarily with the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Responsible for compliance of the Keeping Children Safe training for students and catechists.
- Serves as member of the parish staff. Participates in discussions regarding total parish direction and activities. Attends staff meetings, faith formation team meetings, prayer days and educational days.
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
Travel Requirements
Some travel required several times a year for retreats and continuing education.
Education And Experience Preferred
Required: Active member of the Catholic Church in good standing.
Bachelor’s degree in theology with religious education emphasis or bachelor’s degree in education with Catholic adult formation certification
Good organizational and administrative skills, including competency in Microsoft Suite and familiarity with databases.
Possess leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers.
Being bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
Working Conditions And/or Physical Requirements
- This position requires regular, on-site presence at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The Director of Youth Ministry must be available in the office during most normal business hours to collaborate with parish staff, oversee youth ministry activities, and manage administrative tasks.
- Remote work is not an option for this role due to the need for in-person engagement with staff, students, and parents, as well as the coordination of on-site events, meetings, and retreats.
- Flexibility in work hours is required, including availability during weekends and evenings for events, but primary duties must be performed in the parish office.
- This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines and heavy workloads.
