PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provides initial intake services and broad resource navigation services to individuals experiencing homelessness who are seeking shelter services at the Samaritan House.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows procedures and guidelines set forth in operating guidelines manual(s) to help maintain structure and order in the living environment
- Responsible for connecting with individuals new to shelter life to ensure clients are assessed
- Reviews referrals from community partners and accesses readiness for Samaritan House program
- Accurately and promptly completes all required documentation/data, including entering relevant participant information in daily logs before ending shift assignment.
- Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants
- Assists in the development and implementation of case management services that helps participants become more independent and functional.
- Conducts in-take and orientation of new participants.
- Schedules and completes all shelter intakes.
- Networks within the community resources to achieve the best services available for the participants.
- Advocates with the participants when they have barriers to overcome in meeting their goals.
- Develops and maintains appropriate records, statistics and documentation of services to the participants.
- Maintains confidentiality of participant and agency information.
- Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
- Completes HMIS 101 and HMIS 201 training and accurately enters and maintains HMIS enrollments, updates and dismissals. Provide HMIS Agency Administration duties, such as entering data elements, and generating HMIS reports and consistent monitoring to ensure data quality

- Complete all necessary background checks
- Review and screen all applications from clients applying for the extended stay program.
- Conduct Urine Analysis screenings and Breath Analysis testing of clients.
- Manage intake documents between shelter programs, including but not limited to, Overflow and Extended Stay Clients. Works with different populations such as single women, single man, families and veterans
- Prep and clean-living spaces for new intakes
- Ability to understand the challenges faced by special need populations in the community.
- Capacity to identify participant barriers to activities of daily living.
- Ability to use computer to enter participants information into case files and compile program statistics, fax machine, copier, telephone and motor vehicle.
- Aptitude to assist participant in identified barriers.
- Knowledge of the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the participant population.
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse participant base.
- Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $18-$19
