Position: Onsite Temporary Camp Staff

General Introduction
Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
To direct and supervise all seasonal aquatic programing and staff at Camp Hamilton.
Essential Position Duties
- Coordinates all guards at the facility including:
- Assign staff to swim times
- Monitor staff for competency and work within the evaluation system to help them improve.
- Coordinate with main camp for breaks, schedules, and all camp use of the waterfront.
- Assesses campers at the beginning of the session and assigns swim level based on CYO criteria
- Hamilton: Checks Swimming and Boating areas for any potential hazards.
- Is attentive to swimmers while they are in the water and near the water to ensure safety.
- Makes sure all safety gear is within easy access of the water and is maintained.
- Initiates and documents regular rescue drills to ensure that skills are kept up to date.
- Constantly monitors camper interactions and enforces safety rules
- Maintains the cleanliness of waterfront storage spaces.
- Ensures that the waterfront is always locked at Camp Hamilton when there is not a lifeguard present.
- Coordinates emergency training.
- When not directly responsible for programming at their assigned program area helps out with lodge duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and organized camp environment, including, but not limited to performing regular cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring all facilities comply with health and safety standards.
Essential Qualifications
- Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- A good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, as well as in moral, ethical and spiritual behavior.
- Education:
- HS Diploma or significant qualifying experience.
- Lifeguard certification
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with children.
- Significant experience in aquatic areas including life guarding.
- Other Elements:
- Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
- Strong communication skills, verbal.
- Ability to pass provided Lifeguard CPR Pro/First aid training course.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and live on site in rustic facilities while programs are in session.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
