Position: Onsite Temporary Camp Staff
Location: Carnation, WA
Duration: June 19, 2025, to August 15, 2025
General Introduction
Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
To coordinate the activities of three or more cabins and act as the supervisor for this group including assigning breaks, offering support, and being the faith leader for that group.
Essential Position Duties
- Individually check in with every staff member they supervised at least once daily to see how they are doing and to ensure that all their needs and camper needs are being met including equipping the staff to use open ended questions. Give regular feedback through the supervision process.
- Help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development by supporting each cabin leader in their direct ministry to campers including prepping programs, resources, and support.
- Identify and respond to camper behavior issues. Report unusual camper behavior including homesickness, injuries/illness, inappropriate conversations and behavior issues to your director.
- Schedule cabin leader responsibilities and break time
- Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include the camp crafts, games, small group faith sharing, free time, and friendship building.
- Ensure that the cabin and site are kept clean, organized, and free of litter including checking in on cabin and all camp chores.
- Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports.
- Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines and policies associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your lodge’s safety and their location.
- Monitor camper’s basic needs to ensure proper hygiene, health, emotional, physical and spiritual safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized camp environment, including, but not limited to performing regular cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring all facilities comply with health and safety standards.
Essential Qualifications
- Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- A good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, as well as in moral, ethical and spiritual behavior.
- Education:
- HS Diploma or significant qualifying experience.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with children.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Other Elements:
- Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to pass provided CPR/First aid training course.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and live on site in rustic facilities while programs are in session.
- Must be 18 years old.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
