The Pastorate of St John the Evangelist and St Joseph on Carrollton Manor in Frederick MD is seeking candidates for the Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) for the St Joseph Campus. This full-time position (32 hrs a week) undertakes the catechetical and evangelical ministry of forming children, youth, and adults as lifelong disciples of Christ. As a member of the Pastorate Formation team, the CRE collaborates on the implementation of the catechetical and sacramental programs for elementary students. This ministry position functions within a bilingual (English/Spanish) community context and thus tailors programs, formation, and opportunities according to such best practices. The CRE sees all ministerial work in the broader Gospel framework of facilitating an encounter with Christ and journeying as his disciples seeking the Kingdom of God. Notably, the CRE performs this ministry primarily on the St Joseph campus, but as a part of the Pastorate Formation team, is present and ministering at St John the Evangelist as well. This position reports to the executive Director of Formation and Accompaniment and is benefit eligible.
Job Responsibilities:
• Work with faith formation team and staff within the vision and mission of the Pastorate.
• Implement and facilitate the K-5 catechesis with flexibility to the models that are currently present and with any new initiatives. Currently includes family faith formation, hybrid classroom formation and catholic culture events for families.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of family sessions/events for the parish.
• Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of adult volunteers who will lead and facilitate specific grades and programming within the K-5 program and the sacramental preparation program.
• Coordinate and lead sacramental preparation (1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist) for elementary students including all parent and family sessions, sacrament retreats, practices, and sacrament celebrations.
• Attendance of staff meetings and team meetings.
Job Requirements:
• Practicing Catholic with a passion to share the mission of the church with families.
• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Education or related field.
• Experience working/volunteering in the parish/diocesan level.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft office suite.
• Outstanding communication skills and interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with adults and young people.
• Hours include evenings and weekends and demands the ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
