Position Reports to: Pastor and Principal Supervises:
SUMMARY: A fulltime accounting professional who reports to the Pastor and the school Principal. This position will be responsible for all areas of church/school finances.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: In consultation with Pastor and Principal, implement and administer financial and HR practices consistent with diocesan financial policies and procedures and in accordance with school policies manual.
• Assist in preparation of parish and school budgets, annual reports, interim reports and general ledgers and other monthly reports for the Pastor, Principal and Finance Councils.
• Monitor operating budget of parish and school, reporting any potentially large variances to Pastor.
• Responsible for bank relations including management of accounts, allocation transfers between parish and school and problem solving.
• Prepares checks for Pastor and Principal Signatures.
• Manage bookkeeping functions, including but not limited to, payables, receivables, and other revenue and expenses related to the parish and school.
• Prepare reconciliations of all accounts including quarterly payroll tax filing, parish and school credit cards, and subledger activity.
• Responsible for the administration of offertory enhancement programs, electronic giving, fundraising, Planned Giving and the Bishop's Annual Appeal.
• Responsible for payroll for parish and school as well as benefit administration for parish and school, and diocesan retirement plan contributions. (Paycor,Transamerica)
• Ensures that all federal, state, and local taxes are paid in accordance with regulations.
• Responsible for parish operational and financial records and prepare for audits of parish and school.
• Coordinate the counting procedures and monitor that all internal controls are followed for safeguarding of the collections.
• Ensure an adequate and proper Internal Control environment exists and continue work to assure its effectiveness.
• Direct purchasing procedures within the dollar limits set by the parish and school Finance Councils.
• Attend parish and school Financial Council meetings.
• Supervise administration of diocesan and school HR policies
Job Qualifications (What are the specific qualifications and skills a person must have to do the work of this job)
• Bachelor's degree in business/accounting required with at least 5+ years demonstrated related experience.
• 1-3 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology and accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online, Excel and Adobe.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience handling confidential, sensitive matters.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
