As a member of a mission-driven team, the Renewal Senior Coordinator advances the Archdiocesan plan for parish spiritual renewal in the Archdiocese of Chicago focused on parishes in the spiritual renewal phase of the
Renew My Church initiative. Working with Parish Renewal Leaders (PRLs) and Directors of Vicariate Renewal (DVR) the Renewal Senior Coordinator supports parishes committed to spiritual renewal. The Renewal Senior Coordinator serves as a coach and resource to parish team members who lead evangelization and adult discipleship efforts in the parish. The Renewal Senior Coordinator supports the PRL and/or DVR in guiding the parish’s process of inviting and forming disciple leaders for mission . Also collaborates with the entire Office for Parish Renewal team on team-wide projects. In addition, serves as a resource for other offices and agencies of the Archdiocese in their efforts to establish and enhance spiritual renewal efforts.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Parishes
- With the guidance of the a Parish Renewal Leader or DVR who holds the primary relationship with the pastor, supports parishes in their evangelization and adult discipleship efforts.
- With pastor and his team, develops a two-year plan and works in a coaching relationship with their evangelization lead to build out a kerygmatic soft entry point and create infrastructure for a culture of evangelization.
- With pastor and his team, works in a coaching relationship with parish adult discipleship lead to build out the parish’s ‘Grow’ approach, including next steps following the kerygmatic soft entry point and other adult discipleship opportunities in the parish.
- Supports the PRL or DVR with the PRL/DVR’s work to guide the parish’s leadership identification, invitation, and formation efforts, including ‘Go’ missionary discipleship formation
- Supports the PRL/DVR and pastor in realizing a culture of prayer, team leadership, hospitality, accompaniment, and vision to facilitate the work of spiritual renewal.
- In collaboration with the PRL/DVR, follows up on parish evangelization, adult discipleship, and ‘Go’ missionary discipleship formation goals and strategies as outlined in their individual parish plans to ensure progress and provide support.
- Links the resources of the Office of Parish Renewal to parish needs.

- Advances on tasks and projects in support the overall efforts of the team.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager or Director.
- Archdiocese
- Works as a member of the Office for Parish Renewal team to implement diocesan-wide initiatives, which could include special events, centralized trainings, and workshops.
- Assists other Archdiocesan offices, as assigned, with parish leadership, evangelization, and adult discipleship resources to help them look at their ministries through the lens of spiritual renewal.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of Parishes Renewal processes and resources.
