Summary
The Business Manager at St. Louis Church and School serves as the financial advisor in support of the Pastor's responsibilities to the Parish and School. A professionally qualified team member, the Business Manager is a steward of the financial resources of the parish, including the church and school. This individual must understand, support and accurately articulate St. Louis purposes, goals, policies, and programs, and display a strong commitment to the mission and vision of the Parish, School, and Archdiocese of Indianapolis. This individual, who assists the parish in fulfilling its mission and purpose, directs these efforts with technical expertise within a framework of shared ministry and Catholic values.
As a member of the leadership team the Business Manager serves as a key advisor in all business-related matters.

General Responsibilities
• Attend monthly Staff Meetings
• Attend Deanery, Archdiocese training and retreats as requested
• Attend and contribute to Finance Committee Meetings
• Update committee on expenditures, budget, and financial health of the parish
• Perform all other financial tasks as requested by the Pastor
• Acts as a liaison between the Parish and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis
Primary Responsibilities
• The Business Manager has direct experience and a strong working knowledge of accounting practices and principles. Due to the sensitivity of this position, the employee must be committed to ethical behavior, acting with integrity, and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
Financial Management Responsibilities
• Serves as staff liaison and advisor to the Pastor and Finance Committee on all matters including budget, overall operations and financial condition of the Parish and School
• In collaboration with the Pastor, Finance Committee and School Principal develop, implement, and oversee the Parish and School budgets
• Approves payroll for all employees
• Provides financial recommendations on operations and management of the Church and School
• Responsible for all financial tasks related to day-to-day operations of the Parish and School in accordance with the Archdiocese policies and procedures
• Manages assets and financial resources
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or associate degree in business or equivalent experience
• Expertise in computer accounting applications, spreadsheets, databases and Microsoft Office software
Key Requirements
• Be familiar with the understanding of the Catholic Church's vision, teachings, structure and policies
• Must have a clear understanding of acceptable business practices and ability to maintain confidentiality of church business and act with integrity at all times
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with staff members, volunteers, parishioners and visitors to the parish office, and when conducting business with vendors and contractors
• Cross functional collaboration skills
• Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and management skills, along with courteous, respectful and diplomatic behavior that ensures effective interactions with all staff members, volunteers, parishioners and visitors to the Parish Office
• Must be a self-starter with strong organizational, facilitation and record-keeping skills
• Must be able to work independently, be flexible, set schedules, and prioritize tasks with minimum supervision
• Ability to make difficult and timely decisions and execute plans in a large very diverse parish setting
• Ability to pass a background check
