Program Statement: Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a motivated, mission-driven and knowledgeable Self Sufficiency Specialist to join Migration and Refugee Services. Migration and Refugee Services resettles approximately 500 refugees annually from countries including Bhutan, Burma, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Eritrea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, and Ukraine. We respect the dignity of each person and provide a supportive environment where each individual and culture is celebrated. Building upon the courage and strength of these newcomers, we seek to empower them to achieve self-sufficiency and independence.
What you will do:
Conduct individual assessments to understand the skills, qualifications, and career goals of newly arrived refugees.
Provide job readiness workshops and training to prepare refugees for the job search process, including resume writing, interview skills, and professional etiquette.
Match refugees' skills and qualifications with suitable job opportunities available in the local job market.
Build relationships with employers and companies to identify job openings and encourage hiring refugees.
Provide ongoing support to both the employer and the client to address any challenges that may arise during employment.
