Job Posting: Part-time instructors and substitutes for the Catholic Biblical and Catechetical Schools at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Winchester.
The Catholic Biblical School (CBS) and Catholic Catechetical School (CCS) was originally founded in the Archdiocese of Denver, Colorado. They are parish-based educational programs with live instruction by talented, qualified teachers who take students through every book of the Bible across four years (CBS) and through the entire Catechism in two years (CCS). Tuition paying students meet in parishes once a week for two hours (that includes time for prayer, small groups, and a 75 min lecture), across 30 weeks between September to May. There have been thousands of students in parishes throughout Colorado who have graduated the program. Over the years, sister schools using Denver's curricula have started across the country in California, Texas, Michigan, Florida, and Oklahoma. CBS was launched in Virginia for the first time in the fall of 2020 at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Winchester with record enrollment and is now serving other parishes nearby. Catechetical School will begin a brand new class at Sacred Heart in the fall of 2025. We are therefore actively searching for applicants to serve as substitute and part-time instructors to become part of the growing teaching faculty as the program grows.
The ideal instructor would have a faithful, solid foundation and education in Catholic Theology and Sacred Scripture (preferably holding a M.A. degree in the field), be a dynamic and energetic presenter, have great control and flexibility to teach the curriculum in a clear and organized manner in the allocated class time, have excellent classroom and student management, and be able to drive to Winchester and around Northern Virginia to teach. The stipend is $10,000 per class.
For any questions or applications please send a letter of interest and CV to Dr. Nicholas Lebish at nlebish@sacredheartwinchester.org.
