I. General Summary Of Position Purpose
Provides appropriate and inspirational music on the piano for parish liturgies and other celebrations such as funerals, weddings and Quinceañeras, and Holy Days, as necessary and available. This position is not expected to exceed 10 hours per week.
- II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with the Music Director, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Maintain regular, timely and sustained attendance for each performance and rehearsal.
- For planned absences, provides as much notice as able to the Music Director.
- Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the ministry. This is accomplished by reading appropriate materials and regular practice.
- Hours: The schedule of hours each week will not exceed 10 hours per week. The Music Director may amend the weekly schedule as needed.
- Responsibilities include playing for the following:
- Saturday Vigil Mass, currently 5 PM, and the rehearsal immediately prior.
- Weddings, Funerals, and Quinceañeras, as necessary and available.
- Holy Day Masses, as necessary and available.
- Be available to substitute (to cover for illness/vacation time):
- Wednesday rehearsals
- Sunday Masses, currently 10AM in English and 2PM in Spanish.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to read music, play piano proficiently.
- Prior experience and familiarity with providing music in a church setting; experience in Catholic Liturgy would be a plus.
- Active member of a Roman Catholic community (preferred)
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
