SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the recruitment, assessment, and training of prospective adoptive families. Provides pregnancy counseling and case management services to birth parents. POSITION TO START DECEMBER 1, 2024
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Responsible for maintaining full program compliance with all regulatory and licensing bodies.
Provides counseling services to birth parents and potential adoptive parents.
Participates in an on-call system to ensure emergency and routine delivery of services.
Interviews potential adoptive couples, foster families, and birth parents and explains procedures of adoption process.
Conducts home studies to ascertain motivations, expectations and ability to be adoptive parents and foster parents. Reviews and verifies accuracy of information obtained during home study.
Coordinates contacts with other adoption services to arrange adoptions.
Guides adopting couple through legal and administrative process of adopting child.
Supervises and evaluates the placement of child in foster homes and adoptive families.
Completes court reports for finalization.
Reviews adoption records to provide non-identifying information to adoptees. Attempt to assist in location of birth parents when Adoption Disclosure is sought and approved.
Participate in the overall promotion of the program by: participating in budget preparation, preparing statistical data for future planning, promoting community and interagency involvement, and representing the program in state and national child care advocacy situations.
Provides transitional and post placement services to adoptive family in cooperation with local Department of Social Services.
Develops and implements child specific and adoptive family recruitment plans.
Develops and coordinates adoptive family orientation and training.
Arranges adoptive family services in coordination with agency partners.
Complies with reporting requirements for foster to adopt grant.
Assists in the development of new program services and placement options as needed.
Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A doctorate or master's degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling, with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families;
A baccalaureate degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to, sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling and one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families; or
A baccalaureate degree in any field plus two years experience in providing casework services to children and families.
