GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christs mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. The mission of the Office of Communications is to extend the ministry of the Archbishop of Seattle that unites the Catholic Community of Western Washington with the Catholic Church throughout the world. The Office serves all involved in this ministry of service and supports the faith of this community of believers using the means of social communications to inform, educate, inspire and challenge people to live the fullness of their Catholic faith.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
We are looking for an experienced Webmaster to join our Communications team. If you love managing and optimizing websites this role is for you. This role is responsible for managing and executing the archdiocesan website strategy based on our specific goals and objectives.
This team player must have excellent communication skills and excel at - developing landing pages and supporting other website editors and integrated communication campaigns. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working with WordPress websites, have strong familiarity with plug-ins, technical website management and vendor management skills. Additionally, this candidate must have experience with spreadsheets and dashboards and using analytics to inform strategy and have experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
This position is a fully onsite position, with hybrid schedule possibility. Position is located at the Chancery Offices in Seattle Washington.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
- Manage the execution of the web strategy of the Archdiocese of Seattle website (archseattle.org).
- Provide oversight and management of the Northwest Catholic Website (NWCatholic.org)
- Manage the content lifecycle for all archdiocesan web properties.
- Create and update web pages as necessary, reviewing copy and digital elements.
- Ensure that page updates submitted by the editor team adhere to archdiocesan standards, style guide and policies.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the management of archdiocese web pages.
- Manage the external event calendar of the website, fielding all event submissions.
- Onboard/train new editors.
- Manage the presentation of digital media assets (images, video, documents)
- Manage the creation, operation and export/distribution of the results of web-based form submissions.
- Ensure that content is appropriately represented in search engines through SEO.

- Ensure web delivery systems meet availability requirements.
- Oversee optimization of all websites, including plug in updates.
- Test all updates to site to ensure smooth implementation.
- Monitor the delivery of RSS content feeds.
- Stakeholders
- Work closely with other ministries to help guide their departments content strategy.
- Work closely with third party technical support.
- Work closely with parish staff to execute their directory changes.
- Analytics - Develop and manage robust analytics reporting to uncover insights that will help shape content strategy and user experience.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Education: Bachelors degree.
- Experience:
- Must have proven experience with website management.
- Good communication skills including and interpersonal communications.
- Must have demonstrated admin experience with Wordpress, including plug in management and update testing.
- Must have proven HTML/CSS experience.
- Technical aptitude to troubleshoot and convey needs to vendors and IT.
- Strong analytical skills, including Google analytics experience.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong team player.
- Experience managing Wordpress in a cloud environment (Azure) a plus.
- Knowledge of the operation/management of contemporary web platforms a plus.
- Understanding of Javascript and its role in contemporary websites a plus.
- Experience with Google Analytics and/or Google Search Console a plus.
