Summary Description
The Family Ministry Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering programs and resources that empower families to strengthen their faith and nurture their role as the domestic Church. This position involves close collaboration with the Engagement and Discipleship ministries to support parents in becoming active disciples of Jesus Christ, fostering habits of discipleship, and guiding their children as spiritual leaders. The Family Ministry Coordinator will report to the Priest in Solidum at St. Regis Parish.
Position Details
This is a full-time position that requires flexibility, including occasional responsibilities on weekends and evenings, to accommodate parish activities and events.
Responsibilities
- Develop and provide resources and workshops to support the domestic Church, including topics such as: Christian parenting, social teaching, cultivating vocations within the home, monitoring digital usage, and safeguarding against harmful content.
- Engage with parents of infants during baptism to encourage continued spiritual growth as a domestic Church.
- Support Infant Baptism and Family Support Ministries as needed.
- Prepare couples for the sacrament of marriage, offering guidance and resources for their spiritual journey.
- Identify and address the unique needs of families from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with special needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in all ministry programs.
- Work alongside the Hospitality Coordinator to welcome and integrate new families into the parish community.
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to connect families with relevant ministries according to their life stages, such as Infant Baptism, Faith Formation, and Youth Ministry.
- Coordinate Family Discipleship Groups and Fraternal Organizations, in partnership with the Small Groups Coordinator, to promote faith growth within the family context.
- Provide training and resources for parents to guide their children through challenging developmental stages and topics, in collaboration with the Coordinator of Discipleship Formation.
- Organize family-oriented activities to foster community and strengthen bonds among parish families.
- Coordinate volunteer efforts and visit the homebound to ensure their spiritual and sacramental needs are met.
- Identify and promote opportunities for families to actively witness their faith, both within the household and in the broader community, in collaboration with the Ministry Placement Coordinator.
- Enhance family engagement in worship experiences, working closely with the Liturgical Coordinator.
Support for Masses
- Prepare and print the Prayers of the Faithful and Petitions, including names of the sick and deceased.
- Create and distribute clergy announcements, Mass introductions, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Ensure bulletins are properly distributed and manage information stands at church entrances.
Administrative Duties
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to effectively support family ministry activities.
- Monitor volunteer performance to maintain a high standard of service delivery.
- Maintain records of new families and those at various life stages, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Manage inventory and supplies necessary for program execution.
- Ensure all volunteers comply with Safe Environment policies and protocols at all times.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all ministry activities and volunteer involvement.
Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
- Certificate in Catholic Theology preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- Strong understanding of the role of family life as the domestic Church within the Church's mission of evangelization.
- Knowledge of Theology of the Body and its application within family ministry.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative management style with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
