General Introduction
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Chancery Offices helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
The Assistant Controller, Shared Services, will have responsibility for accounting and financial reporting for Associated Catholic Cemeteries (ACC). The position will manage a team consisting of two Accountants. They will also assist ACC and the Chancery in preparing office goals and objectives, develop work plans, review subordinates’ analyses, and continue to build shared services platform. The Assistant Controller provides advice and technical assistance to the Controller, accounting office staff and other Chancery Departments.
Essential Position Duties
- Supports the Associated Catholic Cemeteries in implementing their Mission by reviewing accounting policies and procedures and ensuring the timely delivery of financial reports.
- Manages ACC Shared Services staff, provides training and resources to achieve the organization’s goals and accounting objectives.
- Responsible for overseeing the preparation of monthly / quarterly financial statements, actual to budget comparisons, variance analysis, monthly account reconciliation, cash forecasting and cash flow statements. Maintains the chart of accounts, general journal posting/processing, and all other month end procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation of the annual operating, capital, and cash budgets including coordinating with the various managers, directors and board of directors.
- Responsible for preparing business metrics on a monthly, quarterly, annually or on an ad‑hoc basis to management.
- Oversees and is responsible for bi-monthly sales commissions, monthly accounts payable and accounts receivable cycle, cash management and bank reconciliations, for Associated Catholic Cemeteries.
- Oversees and is responsible for all aspects of the tax reporting for Associated Catholic Cemeteries.
- Responsible for overseeing the annual audit of Associated Catholic Cemeteries, responding to information requests, preparing supporting schedules and analysis for the independent auditors.
- Responsible for the computer systems administration, which includes contract software (currently Nexus) and the General Ledger Software Serenic Nav 365.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Education
- BS/BA degree in accounting, or equivalent
- CPA, or in progress.
Experience
- Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Office and Excel
- 3 years or more experience supervising and leading accounting support staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with computerized accounting systems, Serenic Navision preferred
- Experience with computerized cemetery contract software, Plotbox preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people.
- Excellent and proven ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work independently as well as in in a team environment.
- Cemetery accounting experience, or similar experience preferred
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
