General Introduction
The Archbishop, visible principle of unity in his archdiocese, is called to build up the particular Church unceasingly in the communion of all its members, and to ensure that their diverse gifts and ministries, in union with the universal Church, serve to build up all the faithful and to spread the Gospel. (Apostolorum Successores 8). He must take care that all the affairs which belong to the administration of the whole archdiocese are duly coordinated and are ordered to attain more suitably the good of the portion of the people of God entrusted to him.” (Apostolorum Successores 177).
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
Staff provides detailed level support in fundraising and accounting office, by maintaining database records and processing cash receipts and accounts payable, for the Archdiocesan Central Office and Called to Serve as Christ Capital Campaign.
Essential Position Duties
- Collaborates with the Controller, the Assistant Controller, and other department members in implementing the mission of the department. This is accomplished by participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the department's programs and services.
- Creates daily bank deposits and cash receipts Chancery wide. This includes check scanning to Wells Fargo and cash deposits for Loomis.
- Assists the AR accountant for invoicing as needed.
- Is primary for assisting AP with vendor entry, check printing, ACH upload from GL to bank, and check upload to correct bank accounts for all companies.
- Provides support to the Assistant Controller for summer camps recording to the GL and supports the senior accountant with deposits for endowments by scanning checks to bank and prepare cash receipt.
- Maintains a desk manual for all assigned duties. Responds to audit inquiries in this area
- Assists other staff in the Accounting department as needed. Incumbent accomplishes this by becoming proficient in the computerized accounting system and understanding the daily procedures of each position.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Education
- AA degree in accounting or equivalent experience, preferred.
Experience
- At least 3 years general accounting work experience
- Proficiency in computers including accounting software;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate skills in excel;
- Knowledge and experience with Raisers Edge or other fundraising software, preferred;
- Knowledge and experience with query and reporting tools, preferred.
