General Position Summary: The Director of Development fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the development efforts of the school in admissions, fundraising, marketing, event planning, grant writing, communication, alumni affairs and public relations. The Development Director has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
- Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocese Employee Handbook
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
- Plans and implements a comprehensive admission program including admission events, student visits, and orientations for prospective/new families
- Conducts pre registrations for current families
- Prepares admission material and maintains admission section of the website
- Initiates the new student cumulative record during the enrollment process
- Maintains the accuracy of the school’s student/family database and serves as the school resource for questions/training
- Organizes inquiries and communications with local pastors regarding parishioner eligibility and enrollment
- Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy
- Communicates effectively within the school community and with prospective families
- Plans the overall development program in keeping with school needs, the Strategic Plan and budget objectives
- Collaborates effectively with the principal, Development Committee, school associations, committee chairs and volunteers
- Ensures effective work practices in financial accounting and reconciliation, database management, gift recording, donor acknowledgement and stewardship
- Maintain records on current and prospective donors
- Ensures that practices are in compliance with school, Diocesan, city, county and state regulations
- Communicates effectively with the faculty and staff and keeps them informed of upcoming development activities
- Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administration
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, committees, etc., as assigned.
Important Job Functions
- Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning
- Supports office staff and their work as needed
- Prepares statistical reports as needed
- Maintains the schools archiving system for student records
- Maintains photography permissions and shares with school personnel and Development Office
- Demonstrates gains in admission and development goals and objectives that are in keeping with the Strategic plan and budget objectives, and a willingness to respond to program needs
- Attends and participates as needed in faculty meetings as well as professional and community organizations

- Reports directly to the principal

- Effectively communicates with parents, volunteers, adults, as well as other schools, churches and employees throughout the diocese.

- Required to work some nights and weekends

- Required to work a part-time schedule
- Required to work in standard office and school settings
- Required to left or carry moderately heavy items to a minimum of 35 pounds
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab pull, hear, see and speak on a daily basis
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
- Required to work in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity and inclement weather
Travel Requirements
Education And Experience Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Meets the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED
