Ave Maria University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of History to start July 1, 2025. All specializations will be considered. Teaching responsibilities include regular instruction of two core curriculum courses (Western Civilization I and II) as well as courses within the History major. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates able to help expand the department’s offerings in one of the followings areas are encouraged to apply: ancient history, Latin America, Asia, or Eastern Europe. Candidates should have a doctorate in History or will earn a doctorate in History by summer 2025. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship and are expected to engage in an active research program and university service.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a writing sample of no more than 30 pages, a sample syllabus, and a statement relating their teaching philosophy to the University’s Catholic mission as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae
