SUMMARY
The Athletic Coach will instruct students or individual players in the fundamentals of sports or a specific sport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. - Educates individuals, students, or teams on the rules, strategies, and techniques for a sport or sports.
- Plans, organizes, and leads practice sessions.
- Trains, encourages, and motivates athletes to prepare them for games and competitive events.
- Teaches safety rules and regulations and ensures they are enforced.
- Develops physical conditioning programs that equip athletes to meet their potential.
- Evaluates team members to determine fitness levels and potential; assigns positions or roles to athletes based on strengths and weaknesses.
- Ensures athletes are using equipment properly and safely.
- Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of players and modifies coaching strategies accordingly.
- Remains current on changes in rules, coaching philosophies and techniques, and technology relevant to a particular sport or sports.

QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication skills
Good working relationship with athletes, parents, and staff
Able to control emotions
Organized
Spiritually mature
Impeccable reputation in the sport community.
CATHOLIC FAITH
Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous coaching experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the assigned sport.
- Ability to work with student athletes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Works frequently in close physical proximity to others and may encounter work in enclosed or tight spaces.
PHYSICAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to traverse various athletic grounds and facilities. Prolonged periods of standing or walking. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, see, hear, and use their hands for fine and gross motor functions; required to see up close and from far away. Position may require lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 lbs.
