- Provides proficient, on time and approachable customer service for WIC food center customers which includes greeting customers and responding to questions. Helps customers on the description of merchandise, provides direction to product location and services offered in the center (both Catholic Charities and other community services). Maintains accurate knowledge WIC services.
- Bags customer purchases for appropriate handling by customer and for maintaining the integrity of the product.
- Verifies customer's participation in the WIC program, validates coupons, and correctly scans items on the register. Ensures coupons/vouchers are provided to the Center Director in a timely manner.
- Assists with accurate inventory of all food products daily. Follows departmental procedure and ensures the proper display, pricing and rotation of all merchandise. Assists in checking the condition of merchandise and notifying directors of damaged products or those products which have expired or are soon to expire.
- Unloads product from trucks and organizes stock room as needed. May operate back-room equipment including pallet jack, dolly, flatbeds and electric jack.
- Cleans cases, shelves, coolers, and conducts other light maintenance duties in the center including light mopping and sweeping, dusting and cleaning of shopping carts.
- Helps ensure the internal and external environment of the center is free from any safety hazards. Reports concerning issues immediately to the Assistant Center Director, Center Director, or the identified Lead Associate in charge.
- Must be able to work day, evening, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work at other WIC center locations.
This position may require the operation of Heavy Machinery as defined in the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago Community Development & Outreach Services Drug and Alcohol Policy ("COOS Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy").
