Summary:
The Bishop’s Cook is responsible for preparing meals and organizing elements of hospitality for events held at the Bishop’s residence.
Responsibilities:
1) Keeping the kitchen and breezeway clean and organized.
2) Washing and drying dishes and putting them away.
3) Is responsible for grocery shopping.
4) Prepares lunch and dinner on a regular basis for the Diocesan Bishop. The Bishop’s Office Secretary will provide a calendar for when Bishop will need lunch and/or dinner and when there will be an event at the Bishop’s Residence, i.e. meetings, social gatherings, etc.
5) Menu Planning with consultation with the Bishop.
6) Prepares meals when guests will dine at the Bishop’s House.
7) Be able to accommodate different dietary needs.
8) Present meals in an appealing manner when guests are dining at Bishop’s Residence, i.e. formal place setting.
9) During the season of Lent, Fridays are days of abstinence of meat.
10) Attention to table décor is especially important during Lent, Advent and special celebrations, i.e. priestly ordinations, etc.
11) Ordering/Purchasing cooking supplies.
12) Collecting and disposing of general waste and recyclable items.
Hours of Work:
The Bishop's Cook is a part-time position. Work hours vary based on the Bishop's schedule. The Bishop's monthly schedule is provided in advance. (The Bishop's schedule is subject to change.)
Work Experience:
Experience in preparing regular meals for varied and healthy diets.
Experience in preparing meals for gatherings of up to fifteen (15) people. Assistance will be provided for any gatherings of fifteen (15) or more people.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
