Description
St. Peter's is searching for a part-time custodial/maintenance assistant. This position reports to the maintenance supervisor and ultimately to the principal of the school and the business manager of the parish.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Effective, efficient and safe maintenance, renovation and upkeep of parish and school buildings and grounds including semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other minor repair work
- Cleaning, facility set up, hauling and moving of equipment, raking and watering of grounds, ice and snow removal, and other simple building and grounds maintenance duties for the parish and school
- Obtaining the necessary supplies for cleaning and maintaining the building
- Daily visual inspections of the entire property and clean and maintain as needed
- Cleaning duties include mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows and walls, trash removal using machinery to clean carpet, tile, and vinyl floors
- Minor, job-related maintenance on custodial equipment, furniture & fixtures (including replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, vacuum bags/belts, etc.)
- Moving furniture
- Performing work to be done as a result of work orders requested by the parish pastor or business manager, or school principal
The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM with occasional Saturday shifts.
Requirements
- 2+ Years experience preferred, but not required
- The ability to lift or move 50+ lb. items
- Previous experience working in a school or church environment is a plus
- The ability to work without direction, see issues on the campus, and report them so they can be fixed.
- This job requires the ability to work around children
