Ave Maria University, a Catholic institution committed to the integration of faith and reason, seeks a passionate and dedicated Ph.D. economist with expertise in Data Science to join our faculty. We are looking for a candidate who embodies the university’s Catholic mission and is eager to contribute to our academic community through teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Economics (applied microeconomics preferred, although open to any field) and Data Science, including topics such as econometrics, machine learning, data visualization, and statistical programming.
- Develop and implement a rigorous curriculum that fosters both technical competence and critical thinking.
- Engage in cutting-edge research that contributes to the fields of Economics and Data Science, with the potential to publish in top-tier journals.
- Mentor students, guiding their academic and professional development, and promoting an enthusiasm for learning and professional success in both Economics and Data Science.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the University’s Catholic mission and foster an environment of academic excellence.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Economics, Data Science, or a closely related field. Industry expertise in Data Science highly valued.
- Strong technical skills in data analysis, machine learning, programming (e.g., Python, R, Stata), and econometric modeling.
- Capacity for or a record of research and publication in the fields of Economics and Data Science.
- Excellent teaching skills, with experience in engaging and inspiring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- A deep commitment to Ave Maria University’s Catholic mission, and the ability to integrate these principles into teaching and research.
