Responsibilities
1. Counseling clients
- Appropriately screens walk-in clients and consult with Peer Support Manager and staff regarding intake
- Utilizes active listening skills to ascertain each client’s needs and help her make life-affirming decisions
- Conduct empathetic and compassionate one-on-one consultations to women facing crisis pregnancies and seeking abortions
- Provide emotional support and makes appropriate resources to clients in crisis situations
- Sidewalk counseling
- No counseling degree required. Extensive training will be provided.
2. Conducting UPTs
- Perform medical grade pregnancy tests
3. Answer Crisis Calls
- Provide emotional support to the caller as an active listener
- Be a quick thinker and able to navigate through difficult situations without losing the caller
- Show compassion and empathy
4. Teach Parenting Prep classes, as needed
Qualifications:
1. Full agreement with the Center’s Mission Statement and scope of care.
2. Must be fluent in both Spanish and English
3. Has excellent communication skills both written and oral.
4. Has good organizational skills.
5. Has experience and is comfortable working with people in crisis situations.
