Function Summary: The Advancement Director is responsible for developing meaningful relationships with major donors, providing them opportunities to bring Christ to the world by supporting Relevant Radio financially. The Advancement Director has a critical role in advancing our mission through strategic fundraising initiatives.
We have two (2) Advancement Director positions available.
Advancement Director - Northeast: The preferred location is in Philadelphia, Providence, or the NYC area, but the position will cover ME, RI, NY, NJ, MD, DC, PA, VA, MA.
Advancement Director - Midwest: The preferred location is the Twin Cities, but the position will cover territories in MN, WI, MO, MI, OH, IN, IA.
Responsibilities:
• Foster relationships in an assigned region by implementing strategies that cultivate, solicit and steward donors with passion for our mission and capacity to make a major gift.
• Manage a portfolio of prospects; maintain relationships through various communications, touchpoints, and personal visits. Provide a monthly report on caseload progress.
• Develop personalized engagement plans for each donor, aligning their passions with our mission. Execute plan.
• Contribute to capital campaign success by executing tailored plans for each assigned donor. Ask for support, considering the donor's interests, motivations and giving patterns.
• Proactive scheduling and conducting 10-20 face-to-face benefactor visits monthly.
• Create compelling donor offers and proposals that will provide compelling opportunities for the donor to make an impact and engage in the mission. Regular touchpoints and follow up with donor prospects.
• Create a cultivation strategy for 6 to 7 figure gifts for top tier donors within your portfolio. Set up relationship building opportunities for Chief Executive Officer and Board Members.
• Work with key partners to help Relevant Radio maximize fundraising efforts in addition to fostering a peer-to-peer strategy.
• Plan and participate in select VIP gatherings.
• Achieve annual revenue goal based on portfolio goals.
• Adhere to corporate policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of the major gift and planned giving programs. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to donor/prospect information.
• Perform other major donor activities as required, including creating monthly reports, budgets, and activity tracking.
• Utilize Raiser's Edge/NXT database software for donor records and donor analysis.
• Attend continuing education and professional development seminars and programs.
• Solid understanding of the mission, programming content and audience of Relevant Radio.
• Adheres to Relevant Radio policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and projects, as assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements
• Catholic, active faith life in accord with teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Bachelor's Degree in related field, with advanced training or degree desired.
• Five (5) plus years of fundraising or sales experience. Progressive experience in major and planned gift fund development preferred.
• Ability to identify, cultivate and solicit steward leadership level gifts of $5000+. Significant experience in securing major gift donations of $5,000 - $1.0 million plus.
• Ability to build relationships with prospective donors that will lead to increased philanthropic support of the organization.
• Solid interpersonal, communication, business writing and presentation skills. Able to serve as key spokesperson for organization.
• Experience working with and educating associates, volunteers, and professionals in the benefits of charitable giving/fundraising.
• Strong planning, organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop creative fund development plans.
• Demonstrated ability to set and achieve objectives and goals, as well as meet deadlines.
• Excellent relationship building skills; ability to super-serve the needs of our benefactors and our local market leadership council's.
• Knowledge or involvement in Catholic fraternal organizations and associations.
• Able to work independently and with flexibility.
• High level of personal energy and enthusiasm.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, as well as database management and Raiser's Edge usage.
• May be required to lift 20 pounds for various donor events, etc.
• Valid driver's license required. Ability and willingness to travel.
