Lab Manager
The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic university committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time, lab manager position in physics and engineering. The start date for the position is November 1, 2024.
General responsibilities:
- Manage all department student workers and teaching assistants including hiring, training, and day-to-day planning.
- Set-up and ordering for all the teaching and research laboratories.
- Coordinate all ordering and secure supplies for the department, including large and small lab equipment, consumables, gas cylinders, and research supplies.
- Keep labs organized, clean, and supplied with necessary equipment and expendable items as needed on a weekly basis.
- Maintain yearly chemical, equipment, consumable, and glassware inventory.
- Interact with and form working relationships with department faculty, university staff, and product representatives.
- Work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, or related field.
- At least two years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to critically analyze and problem solve.
- Manage all physics and engineering labs in the department.
- Familiarity with safety documentation and capable of fixing small technical/engineering issues with laboratory instrumentation.
