Title: Food Service Kitchen Assistant
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 30 pounds and team lift 50 pounds.
Some overhead work will be necessary to reach high shelving, etc., using stepladder
Extended periods of standing, walking, lifting and repetitious movement are key components of this job.
Ability to move from one task to another quickly is required.
Adhere to and practice all strict food safety regulations and KSDE regulations
Technical Requirements
Complete mandatory Professional Development hours yearly and as requested.
Complete monthly Virtus bulletins in a timely manner, as required by the Diocese of Wichita.
Record food prepped and if/when server, record leftover, daily (KSDE regulations)
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director and Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Required DAILY
- Support and maintain a respectful, conducive, safe environment for personnel to work in.
- Interact with students during serve time, providing a quality customer service relationship with the students.
- Pull stock as needed for food prep.
- Follow and adhere to recipes per federal regulation of the KSDE and CNW.
- Prepare/cook menu items as assigned and needed, serve food and clean work area and assist with end of day clean up.
- Work alongside multiple team members in kitchen prep area.
- Assist other teammates with tasks, as needed, to ensure completion of menu items before serve period begins.
- Work in cooler and freezer temperatures to gather stock and tolerate room temperature increases during food prep and clean up.
- Conduct temperature monitoring and recording of refrigerated and freezer units daily, A.M. and P.M. Relay any major fluctuations to the manager.
- Assist with delivery check in, noting correct receipt of invoiced items, moving stock to storeroom shelving and cooler/freezer shelving.
- Assist with washing and restocking dishes and small wares to work areas, during food prep, service period and assist with clean-up procedures daily for the following, including but not limited to, kitchen food prep and serve areas, ovens and equipment, including food bar areas, as well as any additional cleaning necessary on given day.
- Practice and encourage excellent team work to promote a positive atmosphere.
Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor and as needed.

- Bilingual oral skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

- Works in standard school environment and in outdoor weather.

Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Certification/License
- Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License or ability to provide own transportation.
Experience
- Successful prior experience working as a lunch or food service aide, preferably in a school district or with children.
