I. POSITION PURPOSE
Develops, implements, and directs Faith Formation Programs for elementary, junior high, and senior high students (Pre-K-12). Plans and facilitates Sacramental Preparation Program in collaboration with appropriate groups or individuals in the parish and/or region.
Ii. Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the pastoral leaders, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Assures the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for faith formation levels (Pre-K-12), as designated/delegated by the pastoral leader.
- Coordinates the Sacramental Preparation programs (Children’s Sacraments, Infant Baptism, Youth Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, OCIA for children and including Quinceañera prep and mass celebrations.
- Plans for and implements programs in support of faith formation (parent groups, Faith Formation Commission, etc.).
- Leads or attends planning meetings related to faith formation events, objectives, strategies, and goals as appropriate.
- Develops and executes curriculum and learning objectives, outlines teacher materials and prepares teachers for classes in specified areas. May teach some classes.
- Leads parish faith formation programs for children and youth, supervises faith formation volunteers and any and other staff members performing faith formation activities or offering administrative support for related activities. Prepares bulletin, website, and other messaging for appropriate Faith Formation programs.
- Recruits, trains, motivates, and provides general and specific direction to volunteers involved with designated faith formation activities and programs.
- Develops and administers the approved budget for designated faith formation programs. Collaborates to develop and collect any program fees and charges from participants.
- Assures purchase and allocation of equipment and materials for designated faith formation programs. Follows and enforces all Financial internal controls and safety practices.
- Oversees accurate maintenance of program records. Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and discretion at all times. Observant, with non-disclosure agreement of anything learned in the workplace (conversations, work material – electronic or written).
- Plans and implements baptismal retreats and celebrations.
Iii. Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic that leads a life consistent with the Catholic faith and moral teaching.
- Understanding of child learning levels with preference given to those with proven parish leadership and pertinent theological training.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to recruit, motivate and direct volunteers.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated organization, presentation, teamwork, technical and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and social media/communication platforms.
- Availability to conduct classes Sundays, Saturdays, or occasional evenings.
- Full-time position with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
