PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility within OSHA guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Strong commitment to the values, mission and ministry of the Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of Cleveland. • Receive daily assignment and organize work schedule to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. • Prepare equipment and supplies for use, check equipment for proper functioning and cleanliness, and report defective equipment to supervisor. • Perform cleaning duties in the following assigned work areas according to cleaning schedule using approved cleaning agents and equipment: o Offices: Dust, sweep, empty wastebaskets, wipe windowsills, clean bathroom that is located within, vacuum carpets o Classrooms: Wash blackboards, empty wastebaskets, clean tables, put chairs back in order, sweep, wipe windowsills, vacuum carpets o Guest Suites (When guest remains overnight or longer): Strip room of towels, bedding and shower curtain, empty wastebasket, clean bathroom, dress bed with clean linens, hang clean towels and shower curtain, wipe windowsills, dust, sweep, vacuum carpets o Priests’ Suites: Clean bathroom, dust, empty wastebaskets, wipe windowsills, hang clean towels in bathroom, sweep, make bed (if not made up by priest), pick up dirty clothes for washing, put clean clothes in room, vacuum carpets, clean windows and screens and curtains. • Clean fixtures, furnishings and furniture by dusting, damp wiping, washing, sanitizing and polishing as required. • Remove and properly dispose waste from soiled linens and deliver linens to the laundry facility promptly. • Launder linens for faculty, kitchen and chapel on a daily basis to include gathering items, washing, ironing and returning to respective places. • Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls each day and replenish bathroom supplies as needed. • Perform equipment and supply maintenance by cleaning and storing equipment properly and taking mop heads/rags to the laundry facility for washing/disinfecting as needed. • Remain alert for structural defects, broken furniture, worn draperies or slip covers or other unusual situations, report observations to the Housekeeping Supervisor. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS • Ability to apply and exercise good judgment and safety standards • Demonstrated skill in reading comprehension, especially in understanding written technical directions and supervisory communications • Demonstrated skill in creating written communications for colleagues and staff regarding safety measures, newly installed systems, etc. • Diplomacy • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at one time • Computer Literate (Microsoft Outlook) • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds • Ability to work off a ladder, (hang drapes, etc.) • Physical and Manual Dexterity Skills • Mechanical Ability • Expertise in organizing tools, work areas, equipment, as well as equipment maintenance schedules and projects
EDUCATION: • Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE: • Prior housekeeping experience essential
JOB RELATIONSHIPS: • Accountable to Chief Operating Officer and Supervisor STATUS: • Non-Exempt
