Program Director - Girls Tutoring and Mentoring Program

The Program Director has the responsibilities of managing the One-On-One Tutoring Program for inner-city students located at the Kosciuszko Community Center, 2201 S. 7th St., Milwaukee, WI 53215.

The program is inspired by the social teachings of the Catholic Church and Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Female
Resourceful manager
Enjoy working with students. Students are from primarily Latino and African-American families
Well formed in, believes in and abides by traditional moral and ethical values and virtues based on natural law and teachings of the Catholic Church
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to market the program to prospective volunteers and students.
Spanish proficiency or willingness to learn is desired.
Availability to work two evenings per week and Saturday mornings because of program schedule.
MARKETING RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit of 100 or more 4th-8th grade girls for each semester and 250 for summer program.
Get to know current students well so that most students will be retained.
Student Recruitment:
Retain current students
Presentations at local grade schools followed-up by phone calls to parents.
Establish working relationships with school principals and teachers.
Volunteer Recruitment:
Recruitment of 100 or more committed female volunteers to tutor and mentor each student.
Train and engage volunteers well so they will naturally re-commit each semester.
Develop enthusiasm about finding referrals for students and volunteers, then follow-up on leads.
Develop relationships with companies so they can advertise program to employees.
Make presentations to professional audiences about program Program Leadership Responsibilities
Ongoing Program Responsibilities:
Get to know all volunteers, students and parents
Communicate effectively in person, via phone and email
Provide ongoing communication for tutors and parents of the students
Provide initial orientation and ongoing training to volunteers
Learn established program manual
Learn and give character classes on virtues based on natural law that are emphasized here
Train small group of volunteers to be group leaders who will report to you
Give presentations and organize speakers who can give informative talks to parents on parenting skills
Organize and lead cultural and fun filled field trips for students and volunteers each month
Organize special events and award presentations for volunteers and students in the program
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Publishing, email.
Keep data base and spreadsheets current to track statistics, progress and attendance of each student
Write and layout articles for periodic newsletters
Write and layout descriptive brochures each semester for attracting students and volunteers
