Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break. Occasional overtime is required.
Position Summary
The Groundskeeper will assist the Grounds crew in maintaining campus landscape and assets, including roads, sidewalks, and parking lots; and will work with student workers in achieving these tasks. Will maintain grounds equipment and tools along with trouble shooting; and will assist with campus snow removal to ensure campus is safe. Occasional furniture moves along with other duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain the health and beauty of campus landscape, turf, and campus assets including roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and outdoor furniture.
- Accomplish a wide variety of tasks with a student work crew.
- Perform snow removal activities throughout the winter season to ensure a safe campus.
- Maintain and upkeep Grounds equipment including routine daily checks.
- Complete moving work orders, including for office, classrooms, and dorm furniture.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Work Experience
- 3-5 years of landscape maintenance preferred.
- Experience in operating landscape equipment and performing routine maintenance.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with the operation of landscape equipment and hand tools.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Landscape maintenance knowledge and hands on experience.
- Good computer skills to navigate campus web pages, e-mail, and personal payroll web page.
Non-Technical Skills & Competencies
- Must process effective leadership skills with good verbal communication.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work with others.
- Must be service-oriented and have the ability to serve campus in a kind and polite way.
- Must possess the ability to adapt to changes in tasks or workload daily.
- Must be safety conscious.
Education
- Minimum of high school education or GED is acceptable.
Certifications & Licenses
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured as a driver.
Workplace Factors
- Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds from the ground to shoulder height without assistance.
- Must be able to withstand inclement weather.
