Position Summary:
The Diocese of Raleigh is seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to join its dynamic team and help maintain our high standards of technical support. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering top-notch customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides first-level technical support to end-users via multiple channels identifying, investigating, and resolving users’ problems with computer software and hardware.
- Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and mobile device software, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain ip telephony devices and cloud phone pbx systems.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of user accounts and access permissions.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining IT Security systems.
- Document and track support requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
- Develops and communicates department projects and goals.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to identify and implement improvements.
- Collaborates with other employees to research and resolve problems.
- Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices and tools.
- Coordinates service with software, hardware, or network vendors as needed.
- Evaluates expanding or enhancing computer operations; makes recommendations for improvement and upgrades to hardware and software to manage workload and system requirements.
- Participates in projects, implementations and support of multiple locations.
- Stay up to date with the latest technological trends and advancements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or an equivalent level of experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related experience as an IT Support Specialist, Field Technician or similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Familiarity with network protocols, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical employees and customers.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn an array of computer hardware and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license that’s in good standing and have willingness to travel on a regular basis (80% Travel) periodically using your personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement) when an organizational vehicle is unavailable for use.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing a criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
