Posting Title: Academic Counselor, Veterans Upward Bound Overview:
The Metropolitan School of Professional Studies serves nontraditional-age students, providing them with opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and noncredit study. The Academic Counselor works with the participating veterans to assess participating veterans’ needs, create personalized academic goals, and achieve those goals through participation in programming. Monitors student engagement and success. Executes academic interventions. Guides participating veterans in college selection and application process. Collaborates closely with instructors, the University’s Center for Academic Success, and other stakeholders and resources throughout the University and the community. Supervise subordinates effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the needs of participating veterans and develop an individualized academic plan.
- Monitor participant success and engagement.
- Guide participants in college selection and application.
- Collaborate closely with instructors, Center for Academic Success, and other stakeholders and resources throughout the University and community.
- Guide participants through FAFSA and other grants as well as scholarship opportunities.
- Serves as liaison to other stakeholders both within and external to the university.
- Represent MSPS and the University with an engaging, helpful, team-oriented demeanor consistent with the university’s mission and Roman Catholic character.
Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree preferred with three (3) years of military experience or a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of military experience.
