POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exempt position which is responsible for assisting the Facilities Coordinator by providing timely and responsive maintenance, minor repairs and construction projects for the agency. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine and semi-skilled tasks involving general maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds. Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, incumbent is responsible for maintaining grounds safe and clean, making routine plumbing repairs, routine carpentry work, and minor electrical, painting, plumbing, and any other routine and preventative maintenance duties. All activities are completed in accordance with agency policy and procedures, federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards, any other regulatory guidelines. Incumbent in this position demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities Safety and Maintenance
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and mechanical work.
- Perform maintenance construction, general installation, and preventative maintenance work under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator.
- Perform basic installations.
- Perform emergency facility repairs.
- Replace furnishings, tiles, equipment, appliances, or other structural elements, as assigned.
- Provide quick responses to emergency maintenance issues and potentially hazardous conditions.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance on building structures and equipment, to include but not limited to; windows, doors, floors, drywall, bathrooms and other parts of building interior or exterior structures.
- Identify structural, mechanical, or utility issues and assist in correcting them in a timely manner.
- Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
- Monthly inspections to ensure the organization’s facilities are safe and heating, lighting, and other systems are functioning properly;
- As needed, accompanies vendors/company representatives at the program while on premises.
Supplies and Inventory
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Submit order request for maintenance supplies and equipment to supervisor or designee.
- Assist in accurately tracking, monitoring, purchasing and maintaining inventory.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance
- Wear appropriate clothing, and personal protective equipment following safety protocols.
- Evaluate the potential hazards associated with the use of tools, appliances, or pieces of equipment and identify whether its appropriate to use.
- Clean and prepare work sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams to ensure proper methods and equipment.
- Perform PQI functions as assigned by Supervisor.
Additional Duties
- Move office furniture, fixtures and equipment to support staffing changes, relocations, and program expansion.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment for special meetings or events.
- Communicate any problem/concern of the program to Facilities Coordinator in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Complete all required trainings as per agency guidelines and other trainings as requested by supervisor.
- Comply with all policies, procedures and requirements necessary to perform the functions of this position.
- Comply with contractual specification, licensing requirements, funder specifications, accreditation requirements and OSHA standards.
Physical Demands:
- Heavy lifting with Personal Protective Equipment (up to 50lbs)
- Ability to bend, climb, walk, sit, and stretch. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, tolerate long periods of standing and/or sitting
- Ability to use a ladder
- Frequent local travel
Educational & Experiential Requirements:
- High School Diploma and/or GED preferred
- Certification in construction trades preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of experience performing semi-skilled to skilled level preventative maintenance and
repair work in a variety of trade disciplines including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting and
carpentry.
- Valid Florida driver's license
