Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Reports to: Principal
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the principal, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment at Boylan Catholic School. The Maintenance Supervisor will also manage a team of maintenance workers, prioritize tasks, and ensure that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversees and performs the maintenance of all school facilities, including the routine inspection of the grounds, installations, and equipment to determine the need for repairs, maintenance, or replacement.
- Plans and directs building and grounds improvements to ensure that the facility's appearance positively reflects and enhances Boylan Catholic High School in the community.
- Performs tasks to keep school buildings and building and grounds in an orderly, neat, and clean condition such as clearing and disposing of trash, cleaning bathrooms and floors, washing windows, dusting furniture and fixtures, mowing grass, and related tasks.
- Performs tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, clearing snow and ice, and related tasks.
- Inspects equipment and facilities, and implements repair or replacement action.
- Check all building entrances/exits to ensure that they are working properly.
- Responds to and manage maintenance requests from building employees.
- Performs maintenance work and supervises maintenance staff members.
- Manage internal staff members and assign tasks as needed. Sets schedules and assignments.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate visits with outside contractors and oversee repairs and inspections.
- Opens and closes building and ensures that all doors and windows are closed and securely locked prior to leaving.
- Obtains equipment, tools, and materials required for completion of assigned work.
- Prepares and maintains records to document work and repairs as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

Equipment
Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including saws, drills, routers, planers, sanders, jointers, and stationary power equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods, and procedures in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Knowledge of building code conformance standards for carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electrical installation, and repair.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and resolve electrical or electricity issues.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Basic to intermediate technology skills. Able to read and reply to emails and phone calls in a timely and respectful manner. Able to utilize digital services that help operate the building.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to work nights and weekends to support snow removal and other needs as identified.
Safety Requirements
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
Travel Requirements
Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and various offices, may be required.
Physical And Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
- Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects. Occasional strenuous physical work.
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Qualifications Profile - Understand, embrace, and be able to articulate the mission and vision of Boylan Catholic High School.
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School Diploma.
- Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, and repair.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.
