We seek an energetic and entrepreneurial Senior Vice President of Advancement to create a sustainable fundraising program to ensure and enrich the diversified services which Catholic Charities delivers. This role is a member of the leadership team and will report directly to the President. The ideal candidate will be a fundraising expert who believes in the power of philanthropy and who can thoughtfully and effectively implement best-practice strategies that will significantly increase philanthropic results for the organization.
Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for fundraising strategy including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and donor relations
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to support the Agency’s strategic plans; establish appropriate metrics and process for monitoring, measuring, and reporting results on an ongoing basis to the President and Board of Trustees
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of highly skilled, dedicated fundraisers and operations experts; set goals and provide ongoing feedback and annual performance evaluations
- Demonstrate thought leadership, listening, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, along with intellectual curiosity to seek continuous improvement and support a positive work environment
- Spark a passion for supporting the work of Catholic Charities among existing and prospective donors in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team; use compelling storytelling to highlight the work of the Agency and the impact on clients
- Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit funds from public and private foundations and individuals, working collaboratively with Senior Vice President of Government and Community Affairs and the grants team
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, working collaboratively to implement the mission of Catholic Charities; attend and present at Board of Trustees meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor or master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience working in advancement/development with management, direct mail, annual fund, planned giving, capital campaign, and event planning experience planned giving, and donor relations
- Must have proven major gift fundraising experience
- Experience managing and leading a team
- A strong understanding and commitment to human services
- Must live within commuting distance of Catholic Charities’ South Boston office as this hybrid role requires several in-office days each week
- Ability to work days, evenings and weekends as needed • Must be willing to travel to remote agency locations including donor meetings and events
- A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel
