The Head Varsity Baseball Coach is directly responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the baseball program from the sub-varsity to varsity level in accordance with the schools mission of forming disciples of Christ through a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education. The Head Varsity Baseball Coach will strive to help each individual achieve a higher value of discipline, teamwork, good sportsmanship, academic achievement and self-esteem.Major Responsibilities and DutiesThe following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job: This individual will serve as a positive role model for students, coaching staff and the community while upholding the values of the Catholic faithProvides leadership that develops and promotes a unified athletic philosophyCultivates relationships with current and prospective studentsDemonstrates proper sportsmanlike conduct and respect for players, officials, opponents, fans and other coachesUnderstands and maintains the standards of the Catholic Central Athletic HandbookMaintains good public relations with media, boosters, parents, officials, players and fansManages athletic activities, contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanshipEstablishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, staff and school administrationWorks with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletesEnsures that all baseball coaches work together toward a common goal within the baseball program and provide unity for grades 9-12Establishes performance criteria for competition and evaluates students athletic abilities on a regular basisTakes all necessary precautions to protect student-athletesConducts a parent meeting prior to the start of the seasonMotivates student-athletes to participate and sustain interest in the programMonitors and enforces student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participationWorks with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangementsSupervises student-athletes during athletic competitions and program functionsInstructs and advises students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practicesMaintains proper files and copies of all pertinent MHSAA, OK Conference and Catholic Central athletic policies, ensuring these guidelines are followedApplies and enforces student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbookEncourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all timesEstablishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers and administrationUnderstands, supports and performs roles in admissions, development and advancementFollows the set fundraising policies and procedures set by the development officeAttends, participates and promotes Catholic Central fundraising events
