The Art Teacher is responsible for fostering creativity and artistic skills in students in K-3 to 5th grades. Some of the key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement curriculum.
- Plan and deliver lessons on various art techniques, art history, and aesthetics.
- Prepare materials: Gather and arrange art supplies and equipment for classroom use.
- Instruction: Teach students how to use different art materials such as pencils, charcoal, brushes, watercolors, acrylics, and oils.
- Demonstrations: Provide demonstrations on drawing, painting, and other art techniques.
- Assessment: Assign and grade art projects, conduct exams, and maintain records of student progress.
- Encourage creativity: Discuss various artistic approaches and traditions, encouraging students to express themselves artistically.
- Organize exhibitions: Arrange art exhibitions to display student artwork and help them develop portfolios.
- Support school activities: Participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher discussions, and assist in developing art programs.
Qualifications:
- Educational background: A B.A./B.S. degree in fine arts or a related field, along with a teaching qualification.
- South Carolina State certification in teaching in the appropriate subject area.
Experience:
Prior experience as an art teacher or in a related field.
