De La Salle North Catholic High School provides a faith-based, college-preparatory high school education to underserved students from the Portland area. Our goal is to develop tomorrow’s community leaders by making high-quality education accessible to motivated young people in a learning environment that values cultural, spiritual, and ethnic diversity. Our educational approach provides each student with the opportunity to succeed through small classes, high expectations, and active participation in our Corporate Work Study (CWS) program affiliated with the nationally-recognized Cristo Rey Network.
POSITION SUMMARY
Support our Volleyball Program and build a positive experience and culture around and within the program. We are actively seeking someone who will elevate the Volleyball experience and who will inspire student athletes with great energy and passion. We are looking for someone that loves and knows Volleyball and will give our athletes the best opportunity to be successful.
Major responsibilities: Help develop our Volleyball program by leading our JV team and teaching the game along with key fundamentals. The JV coach will play a supportive role for the Head Coach of the Volleyball program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Include, but are not limited to:
- Coach the JV volleyball team.
- Help manage aspects of the team including practices, film analysis, equipment, facilities, travel, and competitions.
- Conduct structured practices 5 days per week depending on the game schedule.
- Teach, to all players, appropriate fundamental skills of volleyball, positions, game play, line judging and scorekeeping.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship and model behavior at all times in and out of season.
- Help instruct and motivate students to compete at their fullest potential.
- Help students understand how their training and competitive habits can become part of their larger formation.
- Drive the students to and from games and/or practices as necessary. In addition, stay with the students until the last student has left.
- Complete and maintain coach’s certifications through the OSAA, NFHS and the Archdiocese, and First Aid-CPR.
- Be available to coach all practices and games, including Saturday games.
- Monitor the distribution and collection of all team-issued uniforms and equipment.
- Continue to further your knowledge of the sport through training, seminars, online research, etc.
- Report any disciplinary incidents to the Athletic Director, and copy the Principal if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous volleyball coaching/participation experience required, high school coaching experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license

Start Date: August 15, 2024
