Posting Title: Resources & Services Coordinator/Librarian Overview:
The Resources & Services Coordinator/Librarian provides support to the basic functions of the library including circulation, reference and collection services. The Resources & Services Coordinator/Librarian also supports the law library’s digital initiatives, including the institutional repository, online user guides and the library management system.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in management of the library’s electronic resource collections through batch loading of catalog records.
- Under the direction of the Research and Information Management Librarian, works to record, track, and complete update/enhancement requests from the Public Services Department to the library’s Primo VE discovery layer.
- Provides in-person Reference assistance for students (with guidance/support from Reference librarians), and support with faculty research requests.
- Under the direction of the Acquisitions/Cataloging Librarian, and in collaboration with the Resources and Services Assistant (GLP), completes regular maintenance of the library’s physical collection including location changes, withdrawals, weeding, shifting, and long-term preservation projects including relabeling and preparing bindery shipments.
- Assists the Acquisitions/Cataloging Librarian with the development and maintenance of specialized reports for both external statistical surveys and internal review processes.
- Assists the Research and Information Management Librarian with regular maintenance of web-based tools for locating digital resources, such as the database finder.
- In collaboration with librarians, develops and creates library web pages, user guides and other web-based services.
- Participates in library administration by involvement in committees and special ad hoc projects, and contributes to the library profession with engagement in professional development activities.
- Creates and maintains written procedures, guidelines and training materials for assigned tasks. Regularly informs supervisor of the status of current assignments, including difficulties encountered, steps taken, and projects completed.
- Provides ongoing support for development of digital collections, such as the institutional repository, through batch-loading, scanning, editing, spell-checking and creation and manipulation of metadata.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of one year of library experience is required.
- Law library experience is particularly desired.
- Experience working with an integrated library system, preferably Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo VE is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in common computer applications (Google Suite application and email).
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Familiarity with the structure and elements of bibliographic records.
- Familiarity with legal materials and their supplementation patterns.
