Description
Holy Cross School is seeking a part or full-time counselor for the 2024-2025 academic year. The counselor will partner with teachers and parents in their role as primary educators.
The Counselor serves the mission of the Catholic Church by assisting students, their teachers and families in the area of social emotional and educational concerns, with the goal of helping individuals learn and practice life skills leading toward positive lives.
The ideal candidate would have experience in an elementary school and understand the school environment. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. We are looking for applicants who are positive and professional, good communicators, and team players.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
- Provide learning programs to students on social-emotional learning topics.
- Connect parents with outside resources to support their child and/or family.
- Follow Diocesan and legal regulations in regards to providing counseling to minors.
- Be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness and virtue.
- Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with all members of the school staff.
- Work with small groups and individual students to support growth.
- Respond expediently to parent, students, or administrator concerns.
- Stay current on the best practices in school counseling.
- Assist with the supervision of children as needed during lunch, recess, and/or before and after school.
- Serve on staff committees and perform other duties as directed by the principal.
- Attend school-wide functions and special events as required.
- Maintain professionalism in dress and hygiene.
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Maintain current and accurate records.
- Conference with parents upon request and respond to messages in a timely manner.
- Keep the administration informed of areas of need and concern.
Requirements
- Exemplify and articulate a life of faith in Christ.
- Be willing to work closely with parents in the care and education of their children.
- Be committed to lifelong learning.
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree preferred.
- Have or be willing to seek appropriate certification for the position.
