POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and implement program procedures, systems and plans to ensure a safe predictable environment which meets the physical emotional and developmental needs of the individuals. Participate in the hiring, training and development of staff to ensure implementation of group home program procedures systems and plans.
GENERAL DUTIES /RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a safe orderly environment by ensuring home is adequately staffed per required DDS ratios each shift. Develop and implement scheduling patterns in accordance with state and agency requirements and program needs.
Responsible forthe hiring, training and development of staff. Directly supervises and evaluates group home staff.
Oversee the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of home, vehicles and property including implementation of maintenance schedules by staff.
Participate in development and implementation of program plans and Individual plans.
Ensure that staff implement program plans.
Collect, organize and analyze information to assess residents interests aptitude emotional maturity social adaptation. Utilize such information to recommend and implement strategies for residents to reach target behaviors.
Ensure staff compliance to agency policies procedures and individual and program plans.
Oversee implementation of medication administration procedures and medical procedures, prescribed by doctors, to ensure good health of the residents. Ensures the proper documentation, recording and communication of all medical related issues.
Monitor’s the scheduling and implementation of all medical appointments.
Ensures the proper utilization of all monetary resources for the program and the residents, by coordinating the establishment and maintenance of personal banking accounts, monitoring the use of all purchasing methods be it credit cards, petty cash or purchase orders.
Monitors compliance to safety requirements, conducts fire evacuation drills in prescribed manner and documents such. Maintains fire extinguishers and other safety related systems
Supervises staff and residents in the planning, purchasing and preparation of meals.
Ensure development and implementation of day program, leisure time and recreational activities as indicated.
Develop positive relationship with families, neighbors and the community.
Develop and implement individual plans to provide safe behavioral interventions for each individual. Support and supervise staff to implement such.
Do related and additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of two years experience working with individuals with intellectually and/or multi-handicapped disabilities in a supervisory or management capacity. Associates degree with four years work experience of which two must have been supervising staff may be substituted for a Bachelors Degree.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills, ability to supervise and develop staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with intellectually disabled and or multi-handicapped individuals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of educational and behavioral programs for intellectually disabled and or multi-handicapped individuals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current issues and trends in the field of intellectual disabilities and multi- handicapped adults.
- Demonstrates knowledge of nutrition and food preparation.
- Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
