Part Time Extended Care worker
Job Description
Job summary: The Extended Care workers fulfill the mission of the Catholic school by providing care
of all children in their care within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization, and
policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal. Essential job functions
children/students at all times. The job would entail monitoring children at all times. The afternoon
would be divided into sections of study—outside time – and inside play/art activities. Days would be
M-F 3:15-6:00 pm.
Qualifications
Experience working with children ages 3 to 14
Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic
Church
Able to communicate effectively in both written and
verbal form
Able to work well with others in the school
community
Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Skill in job appropriate technology
Skill in critical thinking and planning
Required to wear close-toed shoes, shirts with
sleeves, pants or jeans
Required to lift and carry supplies and equipment
Required to maintain composure and avoid
inappropriate displays of emotion
Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull,
hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
Responsibilities
Supervise all children/students at all times
NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED
Do not play games or activities with individual
children because this may prevent you from proper
supervision
Do not carry children unless an injury requires it
Require parents/guardians to check out children/
students in writing or via Renweb using the tablet and
in person
Be able to recognize the parents/guardians allowed to
pick up each child
Do not release any student to an unauthorized pick-up
Plan and prepare healthy snacks for all extended care
children
The snacks should be available for all children
Do not provide different snacks for individuals unless
the child has an allergy
Distribute snacks to children
Clean-up areas used
