Food Coordinator

Position Description:
The Food Coordinator is responsible for daily operation of food used for client distribution services. The coordinator works with all stakeholders in the management of food donations and food inventory to ensure efficient client distribution services supporting nine weekly food services.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare weekly food orders for Pantry Manager approval from the major food bank including United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), SLP Manassas Warehouse, or local grocery stores of perishables, non-perishables. Prepare standing order with grocery store to support client distribution of milk and eggs.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the food inventory system. Request approval from Pantry Manager on food purchases and update donation requests from the community to ensure sufficient inventory levels; work with the Pantry Manager to find food sources to increase inventory and food distribution.
- Manage scheduled food drives with partner parishes and the community.
- Ensure pantry food shelves are stocked regularly, organized, and labeled practicing “first in, first out” food rotation to reduce waste.
- Prepare and submit monthly inventory report for food bank United States Department of Agriculture.
- Train and supervise volunteers supporting them on their task. Ensure volunteers have the resources and training needed to perform their duties.
Other Duties:
- Provide backup for client food service distribution as needed.
- Provide backup to Pantry Assistant
- Operate SLP vehicle as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Agency Health and Safety Standards
- Commitment to mission, goals, and services of Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) is highly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to multitask and adjust as needed to workload and pantry activity priorities.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- Experience in customer service and collaborating with volunteers.
- If not certified, complete food safety/sanitation training within 120 days at Catholic Charities expense.
- Food safety/sanitation training provided.

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 40 pounds from a standing position.
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to use a computer keyboard and manage heavy boxes and pallets of food; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and climb a ladder.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
