Assistant Director of Youth Ministry

The ADYM works in a team collaboration with the Director of Youth Ministry to coordinate and integrate youth into the life of the parish and diocese through Youth Ministry events and formation. The goal is to fully implement "A Vision of Parish Youth Ministry" published by the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
Ministry Duties Include
- Recruits and builds community among youth ministry volunteers.
- Organizes and provides training for youth ministry volunteers.
- Ensures volunteers are child protection compliant.
- Coordinates parent formation along with the Director.
- Coordinates and assists with sacramental preparation and retreats.
- Comfortable and confident with youth of all ages.
Event Duties Include
- Coordinates & assists with weekly youth ministry gatherings.
- Coordinates & assists with special events for youth ministry participants.
- Organizes scripture study classes and devotional practices for youth (eg. Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration).
- Coordinates participation in and attends diocesan events.
- Coordinates, organizes, and participates in WorkCamp, World Youth Day, & other large-scale events.
- Manages WorkCamp paperwork, registrations, and key dates.
- Coordinates & facilitates mandatory safe environment training.
Administrative Duties Include
- Assists with registrations and office support.
- Receives and returns phone calls and emails for Youth Ministry office.
- Creates, updates, and maintains communication (email, website, social media) for Youth Ministry.
- Works with the Director to prepare & track budget for Youth Ministry.
- Works with the Director to prepare annual calendar for Youth Ministry.
- Attends diocesan trainings and professional development.
- Additional requests by Director.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Flexibility in schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
Minimum qualifications: Undergraduate degree or equivalent / degree in theology or related preferred, knowledge of Catholic teaching, active prayer & sacramental life. Ability to communicate well through verbal and written modes, computer literacy, and expectation to pursue Certificate in Youth Ministry through the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
Detail oriented and organized, ability to manage several projects, ability to maintain confidentiality, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with people, and competent computer skills. Must have basic mathematical skills such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Applicants must be able to pass a background check to meet Office of Child Protection compliance and Virtus training, and possess a valid driver's license & maintain clean driving record.
Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years in Youth Ministry or related field (paid or volunteer), experience in youth ministry preferred.
Physical Ability: Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time. Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
