Job Overview:
The National Shrine of the Little Flower (Shrine) is a Roman Catholic Basilica and Parish with three campuses, including the Basilica, a Grade School, and the Academy and High School on the third campus. Shrine seeks an onsite full-time Director of Development with experience in developing and executing a strategic long-term development plan to advance the goals of the basilica and schools, including annual giving (raffle), major gifts, foundation grants, corporate support, and special events, as well as building relationships with the community. The Director of Development reports directly to the Rector/President and works with the Business Manager and School Principals to set the strategic direction for the execution of all fundraising and development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Build on existing relationships and improve donor retention through a meaningful stewardship strategy. Leverage the Rector/President and Administrators in these efforts.
Portfolio Management: Maintain a portfolio of key individual and institutional supporters.
Planning and Analysis: Create an annual development plan with the Rector/President to support Shrine's vision and mission and participate in long-term strategic development with the Administrative Leadership, including tracking and analyzing progress towards achieving revenue and communications goals.
Special Events: Overall responsibility for planning, execution, and follow-up of fundraising and special events such as the annual Gala, Dream Cruise, annual Golf Outing, annual Raffle, etc.
Ensure the timely processing and acknowledgement of all gifts and donations.
Work collaboratively with the Communications Team to ensure integrated communications with all other church and school activities and events.
Represent Shrine at events and fundraisers as appropriate.
Assist the Business Manager in establishing and implementing policies and procedures relating to development and fundraisers.
Manage contractors and vendors as related to development projects and events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's And/or CFRE Preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a comprehensive development program with a proven track record in increasing revenue.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
Knowledge of Parish Soft and Give Central software a plus.
Discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.
Willingness to embrace the Shrine church's and schools' unique vision with a desire to fully engage in the life of the Shrine community in the spirit of Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower.
