GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Food Services Direct Support Professional is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving and cleaning, and storage of all food and kitchen supplies for the Assisted Living Facility on a daily basis. While also ensuring that all nutritional and Assisted Living Facility regulations are being met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for maintaining a clean working area including the kitchen, the kitchen equipment, the food serving area, and the dining hall.
- Serves meals to residents and staff in a friendly and appropriate manner.
- Follows all nutritional guidelines and serves appropriate-sized meals following individual diets.
- Follows all safety rules ensuring work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
- Works with the Food Services Manager to ensure healthy, creative, and fresh foods are served that are appetizing in appearance.
- Prepares meals based on appropriate recipes, only making approved substitutions.
- Prepares meals by utilizing the stovetop, oven, steamer, broiler, grill, etc.
- Stores food at the end of the day safely and labeled appropriately.
- Reduces food waste.
- Completes temperature control checks and logs as assigned.
- Washes all wares including pots, pans, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using the dishwasher.
- Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas.
- Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Checks supply needs and communicates needs to the Food Services Manager.
- Assists with food deliveries including unloading the delivery truck and properly recording and accounting for the contents.
- Directs food service volunteers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned

Position works in a kitchen environment and follows all safety regulations and procedures. Position provides direct care to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1+ year working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, or childcare setting or in working with persons who have a developmental or intellectual disability.
- College, vocational, or technical training equal to 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours can substitute for the required experience.
- 1+ Years of related experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Training in nutrition or as a dietician is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand while working for long periods of time, carry light and heavy materials, lift, and move, pull, push, flex, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, stand, reach, stoop, walk, and talk. Routinely moves equipment and food supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in the kitchen or dining hall for various needs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed mainly in a kitchen and food service setting.
